Steak With Malted Butter Mushrooms

Juicy steak and golden mushrooms are a match made in heaven. Saunders’ Malt adds a subtle sweetness that balances the savoury garlic and rich buttery mushrooms, creating a simple yet satisfying meal. Quick to prepare and packed with flavour, it’s an easy way to elevate steak night.

5 minutes (+ 15 minutes cook time)

Ingredients
  • 2 Sirloin or Rump Steaks

  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 2 tbsp Saunders‘ Malt Extract

  • Salt and pepper

Method
  1. Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper.

  2. Heat a pan over high heat and cook the steaks to your liking. Remove from the pan and allow to rest.

  3. In the same pan, reduce heat to medium and add the butter.

  4. Add the mushrooms and cook for 5–7 minutes until golden and softened.

  5. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

  6. Add the Saunders’ Malt Extract and stir to coat the mushrooms evenly.

  7. Transfer your steaks to serving plates, divide the mushrooms evenly over the steaks and enjoy.


Tip: We used button mushrooms. Swiss Brown or field mushrooms work equally as well.
